When is the best time to cut the umbilical cord?

There are different beliefs founded on when to clamp on the cord. Some believe it’s best to sever immediately so as to prevent postnatal jaundice, others feel that it is more natural to cut it once the cord has stopped pulsing after a minute or two, as the cord can still supply additional iron to the baby and reduce chances of anemia. In other cases, through, there is no choice but to rapidly cut the cord in cases of medical emergency.
