When do I expect the engorgement of my breasts to cease?
Nov 13, 2024Engorgement ends as soon as your milk production settles down and starts to adjust itself to meet your baby’s demands. Feeding your baby during engorgement teaches your body how much milk your breasts need to be making. It is then normal for breasts to decrease in size at about one week after childbirth (and then commonly again at around six weeks) — so don’t be surprised when they stop feeling so overly firm. It does not mean you are no longer producing enough milk — you are more likely to be producing the perfect amount of milk. By the way, not every woman experience uncomfortable engorgement!
