What should the baby first pee look like?

lmc newborn pee Nov 19, 2024

Within 24 hours your baby should produce its first wet nappy, and a newborn’s first pees can stain a nappy red or dark pink because of the urates (uric acid salts) it may contain. If your wee newborn has not urinated by 36 hours, tell your LMC or the facility staff. If you are finding it difficult to see in a disposable nappy if your baby has peed, then placing a tissue between their bottom and the nappy can be a good trick. Once your full milk arrives, 9–12+ wet nappies a day is ideal.
