What’s a sample menu at 8 months old?

baby development Nov 13, 2024

3–4 milk feeds (say as first morning drink, morning tea, afternoon tea and supper), plus

  • Textured breakfast (adding grapes, cherries, dates, figs, prunes, raisins and skinless plums), plus
  • Textured lunch and dinner (adding spinach, Brussels sprouts, asparagus and small amounts of herbs, garlic, onion, minced chicken, beef, lamb, pork, veal, liver, kidney and well-cooked egg yolks)
  • Iron now becomes more important in babies’ diet, as the iron stores they were born with are depleting. Note: ‘Textured’ food is something lumpier than puréed, but not as coarse as mashed — I leave it to your imagination.
