Nov 20, 2024If it stops you feeling irked, then make it your first priority, every day, to get yourself showered and dressed with a little make-up on before 9 am — even before the dishes, before the washing, before the tidying, before the friggin’ emails, before your breakfast if necessary — just decide your appearance is the first household task and remind yourself you are not being selfish. (Your baby does not need to be asleep for you to have a shower — lying on a rug or in a bouncinette watching you is just fine.) Or, if it stops you feeling irked, then slob till the afternoon in your grungy pyjamas, to emphasise to yourself that this is your time of recovery and rest.
