Nov 13, 2024Diet-wise, up until the age of three the daily energy expended physically has continually increased, but at this age appetite begins to plateau until around age six. So, four- and five-year-old typically eat a fairly similar amount; whereas a six-month-old and an 18-month-old have completely different food-volume needs. From age four until puberty, children grow slowly but steadily at a rate of around four centimetres in height a year. Shoe size also changes slowly, but somewhat unpredictably — one pair can be rapidly outgrown, but the next will still fit even though holes have been worn in the soles.
