What laundry items do we need to prepare for our newborn?

If you don’t have a clothes dryer, you may want to seriously consider buying one — second-hand even. Clotheshorses are great for drying delicate baby clothing, and drying clothes in the sun can help to naturally bleach and disinfect. Better to stock up on laundry supplies, including a stain-removing non-bleach soak or nappy wash. You can also prepare an old-fashioned quarter-cup of bicarbonate of soda or white vinegar in a bucket, soaking for six hours. Choose pure-soap (natural) washing detergent for delicate clothes; and some wool and fabric wash conditioner. For hygiene purposes, it would be good to wash baby clothes and nappies separately from your general washing.
