Great food for lactating mums are natural, organic foods free of herbicides, pesticides, colourings and additives, e.g. brown rice, oats, leafy greens, red vegetables, orange vegetables, avocados, nuts, seaweed, vegetable juices and garlic. (Avoid parsley and sage, which can inhibit lactation.) • Great herbal supplements for lactation include blessed thistle, marsh- mallow, squaw vine and catnip. There are also herbal tea blends created especially for breastfeeding mums. Particularly good food lists are found in the Naish and Roberts’ book The Natural Way to Better Breastfeeding.
