What if I am not yet fully dilatated yet at the advanced labour stage, what techniques can I do?

If you are not quite fully dilatated, you will be told to resist this urge to push, to avoid damaging the cervix by causing it to swell or tear. Resisting that urge is very hard to do — but can be critical. Taking deep, slow breaths can help. Another alternative is the three-count breathing of blow-blowpant, blow-blow-pant or in reverse pant-pant-blow, pant-pant-blow. My other favourite technique is blowing out slowly and forcefully imagining you’re trying to blow a cloud across the sky.
