What are the signs that I moved into the advanced active phase?
Nov 20, 2024The following are the some signs that you have moved into the hardest part of the labour: feeling very restless and agitated; feeling hot then cold then hot again; flushed cheeks and shining eyes; hiccups, burping, toe-curling; icy-cold legs; uncontrollable trembling leg-shakes or leg-cramps; feeling as if you want to vomit, or perhaps vomiting; feeling as if the biggest poo in your life is about to rip you in half; feeling as if you want to push, before you’re fully dilatated.
As the transition contractions continue, the pressure on your bum will increase. There will be mostly pain, with a bit of pressure. Then as the baby descends and your dilatation completes, the rectal pressure will take over, to the point that there is virtually no pain, only pressure, with an irresistible urge to push. And you will feel a spontaneous desire to push or bear down.
