My baby doesn’t seem to stop crying before she settles to sleep. Is this normal?
Nov 14, 2024Biologically, babies come equipped with two ways to release tension: sucking and crying. It’s normal and natural for babies to spend some time crying themselves to sleep. Crying also assists a baby to unwind because it stimulates production of the relaxing happiness hormones into their bloodstream. As bub’s crying becomes more intense, it is normal for a baby to become a little red in the face and even perspire a bit. Babies crying themselves to sleep also have a predictable crying pattern: as they are getting ready to fall asleep, the length of crying gets shorter, and the pauses of silence between cries gets longer.
