Is there really a way to balance breastfeeding?

Breastmilk are described as two parts: fore-milk which at first is watery, fast-flowing and sweet mineral salt-rich-thirst-quenching milk, then arrives the main high-protein, tummy-filling high-calorie, nourishing hind-milk. What you want is for the baby to receive a benefit of all these and if you switch breasts too fast, instead of giving bub 10 minutes on each side, then chances are, the baby will be hungry again in no time, which creates a vicious cycle. After your full milk has arrived, a rough guideline is to feed about three hourlies during the daytime and four-hourly overnight. I recommend trying to avoid creating the two-hourly ‘snack and snooze’ babe who misses out on the important hind-milk (always doing short feed, short sleep, short feed, short sleep).
