Is it normal for my baby girl to seem like having big boobs and a period?
Nov 19, 2024Often newborns (girls and boys) can develop enlarged breasts (called neonatal mastitis), peaking at about day 4 when their nipples can even leak a little (nicknamed witch’s milk). It usually takes a couple of weeks for this to go away, but sometimes it can take months for the swelling to completely subside, and it can be lopsided. Little-girl newborns can even have a miniature period of a little bloody discharge from their vagina (called pseudo-menstruation), which is just some cells from their tiny womb lining. Both conditions are normal.
