I’m 10 cm fully dilatated, what is the best position to ‘push’?

For these second-stage contractions and actual delivery, just be in whatever position feels best. Birthing on all fours is a strong favourite — as too are all the upright positions such as squatting, standing and kneeling. All these positions use gravity and don’t put pressure on your bottom. Another is the woman lying on her left side — it means she’s off her tailbone, but also means the LMC has an excellent view of the perineum so can clearly advise at crowning when the woman needs to stop furiously pushing, and now needs to breathe and pant her baby’s head out (to reduce preventable tears).
