How often can a newborn baby poo?
Nov 19, 2024After the very early days of black meconium-poos, a breastfed baby may produce 4–8 mustard-yellow poos a day for the rest of their first 1–3 months. But it can be quite normal for a breastfed baby’s pooing frequency to vary substantially — from nearly every breastfeed, to just once every 1–10 days (and so long as the poo is soft and yellow, then the baby doesn’t have constipation). It is normal for a bottle-fed baby to have brown smelly poos 1–2 times a day.
By three months, pooing once every 1–2 days is normal for a breastfed baby.
