Nov 13, 2024Once the breastfeeding latch is successfully established, introduce the bottle, preferably within the second to third week after birth (don’t wait the six weeks some ‘experts’ advocate. Initially, replace the baby’s hungriest feed (usually first thing in the morning) with expressed milk, say 2–3 times a week. Constantly vary the type of bottle and teat used to ensure the baby stays flexible and adaptable. It is preferable that the mum never gives the babe a bottle so that you your partner gives the bottle to the babe.
