How do you mentally prepare yourself for your first labour and delivery?

My mantra then was ‘Childbirth will be what it will be, and there’s no point worrying about it’. When I was a first-time mum, one of the things that I had hard time of accepting is that our bodies are instinctively capable of giving birth. To ease off the pressure, I also mentally conditioned my mind not to be dismayed if things do not go as expected. Midwives and doctors have ‘seen it all’ and ‘heard it all’ and I don’t need to feel embarrassed about how I deal with labour when the time comes. Of course, mental preparation entails being fully informed of what you will go through and this is what this book and other references can do for you.
