How do you know if your baby is sucking correctly?

You should now see a strong steady muscular wriggling movement on the bony area at the top of bub’s jawbone just by the temple/ear/jaw-hinge. This shows your baby is suckling correctly and, fingers crossed, you will see and hear him swallow every 1–5 sucks (infant suckling is a very different process from an adult sucking on a straw).
