How do we prepare the bedroom before our baby’s arrival?

You are to organise the bassinet, have a supportive chair with arms and pillows for breastfeeds, ideally a rocking chair, a little side-table within reach, a foot-stool, a chest of drawers and the change table which should be waist-height. A workstation with lidded pedal rubbish bin, unscented wet-wipes, nappies and perhaps Curash talc. For night-time feeds and nappy changes, have a lamp with a low-wattage bulb or a night-light you can turn on. You can also invest in a thermostatically controlled oil-filled electric heater to keep the bedroom snug at 18–22°C. Have bedroom smoke-alarms installed and be sure to update batteries twice annually.
