How do modern cloth nappies work?

There are generally four types of modern cloth nappies: prefolds, fitteds, pockets or all-in-ones. The prefolds are ideal for young babies as it can be used like an old-fashioned nappy fixed with snappy-type clips or folded to create a ‘pad’ inside a water-proof, leak-proof over-nap cover. Fitteds are the most absorbent leak-proof option because they fit so snugly around the leg, so can be the ideal option overnight. Pockets are quick-to-dry, comes in various styles and versatile in terms of absorbency. All-in-Ones look like the most disposable as they have absorbency core with waterproof outer cover, and often a stay-dry pocket. It can make great daytime nappies, are less bulky and easy-to-use.
