At what point is post-partum bleeding a bad sign?

doctor heavy bleeding lmc placental wound Nov 19, 2024

If your bleeding is still heavy after 10 days, bleeding becomes heavier, or it changes back to a lot of bright red, this indicates the placental wound is not healing properly, and you need to talk with your LMC or a doctor promptly. There is always a small risk of secondary haemorrhaging occurring even some weeks after delivery, especially if there was a retained fragment of the placenta, and/or if an infection develops in the lining of the uterus.
