Two major philosophies. First is the ‘Matthews Effect’, which states that over time early readers become richer learners, and late readers become poorer learners. Second, long-standing, broad research studies prove that the younger we activate that area of neural circuitry, the easier it is to learn the complexities of language. This is due to physiological changes in the brain that modify its development.
