Are emotional highs and lows considered normal after giving birth?
Nov 14, 2024There can be some really crazy things going on in your compost-heap brain that keep making your ‘emotional temperature’ go up and down — you are on a fierce concoction of mind-altering hormones (some call it maternal preoccupation madness), which is all quite normal. It can feel like you’ve been on such a party high after delivery that what you’ve now got is a wicked hangover of uncomfortable stitches, sleep deprivation, a foggy memory of the past few days, and worries about things you didn’t anticipate worrying about — all resulting in some major mood swings, which in themselves also irk you because that’s not how you think you ought to feel. Believe it or not, that is normal, you are fine . . . and you are right on track.
